PRESENTS AT THEIR JANUARY MEETING

CREATING HEALTHY WAYS TO ENHANCE YOUR MARRIAGE

Antidotes for the Four Common Mistakes That Can Poison Your Marriage

Healthy communication between couples is the single most important element to creating a great relationship. Yet many couples communicate in a way that becomes self-defeating. A leading researcher on marital relationships, John Gottman, has described four toxic ways of relating that could destroy your relationship.  These ways of relating come easily to most of us, however. They are ways that we all tried to use to defend ourselves when we were growing up. Although they seemed to help us in the past, in a current intimate relationship they can be devastating. Linda and Bill Wing will demonstrate the four ways that don't work and share the antidotes to these ways that do work. They will also share a simple communication model that contains the ingredients necessary for authentic intimate connection.

The Presenters Bill Wing, LCSW and Linda Wing, LCSW have over 40 years of combined experience in the counseling field.  Both Linda and Bill are trained Gestalt therapists and Linda is a Master Teacher of Practical Application of Intimate Relationship Skills (PAIRS). They have full time private practices in the Clayton area and together provide workshops and seminars for individuals and couples at any stage of relationship. Over the last eight years Linda and Bill have taught twelve 120-hour PAIRS classes in the St. Louis area with over 200 graduates. They just finished five days with John Gottman at his institute. You can get more information about their classes and coaching at their new website, www.relationshipwings.com.
